Heart and Soul Rally 2023 – roundup

Well the dust has settled after the Geordie Chapter Heart and Soul rally 2023 and what a rally it was!!

Lots of volunteers turned up from the Chapter on the Wednesday to set up the event, the registration tent, party tent, all the banners and the bars – thank you to everyone that helped and we had a brilliant little party in the party tent hosted by Michael Watson and Paul Pouton with a guest appearance of our Director Allen Glasper on the decks!

The weather wasn’t great, but we didn’t let that stop us from having fun and welcoming our guests who were arriving from the Thursday morning. From grabbing their welcome packs to be ushered into the swally tent for a quick refreshment served by the glamorous Michael and Vicki Watson along with Paul and Kay Pouton in their gorgeous outfits. The evening we had live music in the rugby club bar by Kings Ransom and Bob Bates in the Cricket club which went down fantastic, gave everyone a chance to let their hair down and relax after their long rides to the venue.

Friday we had our first ride out. A nice relaxing ride through Northumberland with a stop off at Gateshead Harley Davidson for our visitors to have a look around, grab a coffee and snacks provided by the dealership.

Friday afternoon saw the Mad Hatters tea party, everyone was dressed up as Hillbillies and we had the infamous punchbag machine competition. Well done Jonnie Smith on pipping me to the post by 12 points, but was so much fun – highlight for me was Elliot “miss the bag completely” Bailey haha the only man to have 2 attempts!

Friday evening we had more music from Gyroscope in the Rugby club and Mick Cantwell in the cricket club they were both excellent.

Saturday saw another ride out, this time we went up the scenic costal route to Seahouses to sample their delicious fish and chips and then up through Bamburgh past the iconic castle and loop round through Wooler and back down to Percy park. Weather was great for this one once we got out of Tynemouth.

Then there was the Ladies of Harley party in the cricket club, which was a lot of fun, even I got involved with the entertainment! By all accounts the Ladies had a fantastic time with lots of jelly shots, bingo and out and out partying!

Then came the main event, Qween in the rugby club on Saturday night – these were absolutely fantastic and had everyone up dancing! we even had a cameo from our own ranks, a Freddy Mercury stage costume (Paul Pouton) and a Freddy Mercury I want to Break Free costume (Andy Hogg) which had people in stitches, well done both of you, brilliant outfits.

All in all, a brilliant rally once again – this has been the best Heart and Soul rally I have attended, I have no idea how we are going to top this one!

Finally, a message from our Geordie Chapter Director – Allen Glasper.

Geordie Chapter Members and friends ,
The rally was a huge success, thanks to people like you. We had over 300 bikers from all over the country, and we raised an amazing amount for our local charity. The scenery on the rides is beautiful (take my word on it) even though not a lot of it could be seen , the weather was dismal, but the atmosphere was exhilarating. Everyone had a blast, and we received a lot of positive feedback from the participants and the organizers of events from other chapters.
I hope you had as much fun as we did, and we hope you will join us again for our next rally in 2025. It will be even bigger and better than this one, and we would love to have you on board. Please keep in touch, and let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.
Thank you again for your attendance and support. You are all valued member’s of our HOG community, and we appreciate your time and friendship supporting our rally.
Sincerely,
Allen Glasper
Geordie Chapter Director
All the photo’s will soon be up on our Flickr page – I will update this when they are done.

Take care everyone, we will see you again soon.

Distinguished Geordie Ride

On Sunday the 23rd April we had our Distinguished Geordie Member Ride, well attended and a good fair few got dressed up with the theme and made a great spectacle for all to see.
Here are some fine examples of this years outfits to remind you all, a sight to see for sure!

Memorial Bench refurbishment

A massive thank you to Dave Turnbull for his restoration of the memorial bench. Painted in the Harley Davidson colours it looks great.

Memorial Ride 2023

We had a fantastic turnout for this years Memorial ride, around 80 bikes took part. It’s a day for us all to get together and remember those members who we have sadly lost.

Alan Wright led this years ride in remembrance of his late wife Christine and we raised substantial funds for the North East Air Ambulance.

An excellent day, weather was great and the route was fantastic.

On return to the dealership we had reading by Cross Rob and the listing of the names of members passed. This was followed by a minutes noisy revving of all the bikes!

Julie Howell said – Great to have been a part of a very special day…very moving and quite emotional at times….been a while but well worth a visit to see so many people give their time to remember others ❤️‍🩹

Jonnie Smith says of the day – Fantastic ride out today made better with it being my birthday even if I didn’t get the bumps or any cake but well done to all concerned with organising it for a fantastic cause 🙌

We also got messaged by a non member. Simon Field mentions – Had a message through the Geordie HOG messenger from someone who saw us out today…..
Hi there, not sure if this is the right page, but I followed a lot of Geordie Chapter guys today from Blanchland to just past Shotley Bridge and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Just wanted to commend you all.
Nice to have members of the public noting how well we act when out as a group. Well done all.

Busy week last week.

Hi All,

Last week was a very busy week for the Chapter. There were cheque deliveries for 4 charities.

First off, the BoB ride for Chrysalis. Thanks to the BoB riders and Geordie Chapter members who could make it on the day, we finally managed to deliver the £11,000 raised by the Chapter along with friends and families and the support from other HoG chapter friends we made a group of volunteers very Happy. This money will go a long way in helping this charity over the next twelve months. We look forward to seeing you next year on an open day where hopefully we can support you once again. Well done to all at the Chrysalis Club for your help making life a little easier for the sufferers of Dementia 💜

Secondly the annual ABC ride. On A cold and very wet Friday the Chapter delivered the Cheques for the amounts raised on this years ABC run , well done to those who participated on the day and hats off to those who attended today .. someone said a wet day in the saddle is still better than a day at work! Cheques  were delivered to RAF Boulmer, Albemarle barracks and the Life Brigade.
