2009
Welcome to the Geordie Chapter, my name is Julie Horsfield I took over as Director in 2006. I have ridden a motorcycle for many years, I have been to the USA and rode many miles and to Europe visiting places such as Monte Gordo, Fuengirola, Faaker See, Germany and Italy.  I currently ride a Screaming Eagle Electraglide. I have been involved in the organisation of many of the chapter activities and take a hands on approach with most things, I’ll always remember what the Director said at my first chapter meeting, “think what can you do for the Chapter – not what the Chapter can do for you, the more you put in the more you get out” that’s what makes a successful Chapter. Since then, I got involved with the Harley Cruise which unfortunately has stopped due to the closure of the shipping line between Bergen and North Shields, got involved in the monthly chapter raffles, BBQ’s, camping weekends, and ride outs, liase with the public what ever needs to be done. The Chapter meetings take place at the Ouseburn Community Centre, on Newcastle Quayside on the 2nd Monday of the month. At our meetings we catch up with whats happening, whats taking place soon, sometimes there’s lively discussions on certain topics, but you know we always resolve matters in the end. Hot and cold drinks are always available from our tuck shop, which is manned by chapter volunteers.  The Chapter membership continues to grow steadily each month and I have noticed over the past year the increase in female riders, which is great to see and I hope that the trend continues despite the current financial climate.
I am committed to the organisation of the Heart and Soul Rally and support coalition events which happen throughout the year. As the new year starts to unfold, its time to prepare for the coming season. The chapter calendar is starting to fill up already as well as the Official HOG Event Calendar, which promises to be a very busy year if you’ve got the time,  you could be on the road 24/7 riding and having fun. So much to do and so little time. This years HOG European Rally will take place in Lativa more information on the H-D HOG Website. If you haven’t thought about it already, you should be thinking of signing on for HOG mileage award, when you sign on initially you receive a cloth patch and metal pin thereafter receive a patch when 10000 miles completed then 25000 etc. Another benefit is the ABC of touring, all of which could be incorporated on your travels. I know I had fun doing the ABC and I hope you will too.  Our own Heart and Soul Rally takes place this year 18-20 September, preparations are well underway and this year you will be able to purchase tickets by credit/debit card at Just Harleys as well as the usual postal method. More details to come on the chapter website.  Finally, I would like to finish off by saying, if you need to get in touch about anything or have a question that needs answering, drop me a line at director@geordiehog.com anytime, if I can’t answer it directly I will find out who can.

Ride and have fun
